  Last time I checked, general Lee fought to preserve slavery. Great general and a man of courage and integrity, but he defended slavery. Time to make corrections to misguided traditions, just as we do with religion. Maybe the "Marxists" got it right. I am willing to listen to a cogent argument to defend memorializing pro-slavery figures, if there is one.

  Oh this stoopid shunning thing!!

  warning - vent ahead....... so, my father (still very much in jw but who has at least had the decency to still keep in contact with me and hubby and to show interest in why we aren't attending and respect where we are at) is in intensive care at a local hospital and is intubated and sedated with some serious health issues.

  i'm next of kin so i get all the phone calls from the hospital.. so, the rest of the "family" has cut me off because we are inactive and because the ever-active jw gossip grapevine has rumoured with a sibilant slithy hissy voice: "apossstassssy" is the cause of our inactivity.. whatever.. but now i've had to contact said "family" with the news about my father and what is going on....... so, dad's sisters answer my calls and manage to act and conduct themselves with a degree of decorum.. my sister on the other hand - well, she doesn't deign to answer my calls and texts for most of the day.

  i push the issue tonight and insist on speaking to her when my brother-in-law answers the call.

  Interesting that I can openly attack the organization in the harshest way possible, and what do I get in return... my brothers, my daughter and my wife, all JW's, become nicer. I am not exaggerating. It's the common pattern of my JW family who have had access to my rants about the Borg. That's the difference between being baptized and not being baptized. Also, being the financial support of all of them (my brothers work for/with me) may have something to do with their smiles and nice words after my rants about the Watchtower.

  The cult steals their minds and turns them into marionettes, who can be kind or angry when the handler sees fit.

  just curious but how do the people off this forum find reddit.

  for myself i find reddit to be sadly lacking in the jw world.

  i just don't find the depth there e.g one sentence replies, trying to be funny.

  Just learn to separate the messenger from the message and also learn to look at the big picture. Don't obsess with alleged personality traits of Lloyd.

  so i know i said on my last post that might be my last i still have one more week till that.. but i want to say somethings untill i see if i can post still but what i want to say is i had to go to the 2017 jw convention and my aunt can be a ass hole sometimes im sorry that was the only thing i could think of.i started to listen to how she acts when talking to people at the convention or the kingdom hall she acts 2x has nice and never gets mad.. i just wanted to talk about this just something i picked up on..

  i'm tired of hearing these constant attacks on white supremacists after the events in charlottesville.

  why are moderate white supremacists being lumped in together and sharing the blame for the actions of one reprehensible man that misinterpreted the ideals of white supremacy and became violent?

  clearly the motivation of such attacks on white supremacists is nothing other than racism.

  The problem with comments of more than two paragraphs is that... well... they are too long. I missed that part (it's satire) and many likely did, and many likely will. We should avoid trying to write essays in a time when there's so many distractions and our attention span is short.

  That logic can be applied to any large group.

  White supremacy lost popularity a long time ago, so if anyone wants to embrace it has to be willing to take all the baggage that comes attached.

  Of course the media will focus its attention on white supremacists a lot more than on liberals who want to see your dog and your neighbor as equal. I like that approach because peaceful white supremacists can easily convert into followers of Hitler-like leaders, and that Joe we need to prevent.

  there are several confirmed announcements in some congregations around the city regarding the sale of the assembly kingdom hall.

  one of the reasons why it will be sold is that expenses are not covered by donations.

  the hall was dedicated in 2009. actually, in some congregations the elders have not given the announcement for the publisher's reaction... .
